Rake at Bay 101 Casino In San Jose, CA Better than Vegas rakes

I remember seeing a forum thread awhile ago talking about how you cant win 1/2 NL because of the rake.

Well When I went to Bay 101 card room here in San Jose, they offer 2-3-5 (where dealer button is 2 dollars), and the rake is always a constant $5.00 no matter how big the pot size is.

What do you guys think of this rake? Worth playing

For those that play there, 1-2-2 seems to be a very tight game, 2-3-5, has a bunch of gamblers and is probably the best game there because of the action and 5-5-10 is also extremely tight.

That is horrible if they take 5.00 every pot no matter the size

What if it is just a blind against blind battle and it checks down.

Does the winner owe a dollar?

First off, while it's possible for 1/2NL to be unbeatable due to the drop, that won't be the case in the overwhelming majority of casinos. Really only in SoCal is it possible.

As for Bay 101, that rake structure is bad, but not prohibitive.

If they have a no flop no drop policy then $5 a hand is pretty good. Just make sure you win every time postflop. Rake here in Macau could be 100-200 HKD (12.5-25 US) depending on which limits you play.

so what CA casino's are good to play poker? Sounds like Rake is bad everywhere. Should I just go to Cache creek or RENO? Sounds like they are even worse.

If you're playing 1/2 or 2/4 NL reno can't be beat cuz its usually no flop no drop, $3 max drops, and the average comp for poker players is usually $2/hour

Thats very high. Betraiser.com has no rake for real money and at least 80% cheaper than stars model.

It's been a long time since I last played at Bay 101. Live in SF now but would be down to make a trip to SJ soon. Last time I played there some lady left the table furious at me for felting her KK.
