The thing that made it complicated for me was the possibility of a Royal Flush bonus, so if I reraise all in and he folds there is no draw to it.

However, winning that pot basically guarantees me 1st or 2nd, or if I run terribly a 3rd

What would you have done Shogun? (WWSD)

For the record, snapperman stated he had a set of aces, which I don't know if I believe considering he just called a minraise, but maybe players who are more familiar with him can weigh in on that.

I'm not Shogunrua but check raise flop or check call flop then fold ugly turn are your only options. I hate the turn call. Are you playing to hit a bonus hand or to win the tourney?

I realize passively calling is a questionable way to play, but if the Q or diamond hits I win a big pot. Don't see how I can just fold the turn there, and pushing on the turn kills the RF draw if he folds, and check raising all in on turn doesn't achieve anything with no fold equity (at least I can fold the river and still have chips)

        1. Your above poker hand and how you shoulda played it is NOT complicated

        2. Why do you even consider going to a topless club? It's gotta be ALL NUDE for me or else it's a no-go... save for a select few clubs with 9's & 10's only (like Flashdancers, Rhino)

        3. Let's you, me & hockey go to Sundowner sometime. We'll get Doggy, sin & miller to meet us there under the pretense we're gonna go to the nearby casino to play poker... BUT ... all we really want them there for is to treat us to some lappers w/ the girlies. I'm pretty sure this ruse would work.

          Yeah Sundowners is fabulous

When you say it's not complicated are you saying I should have check raised all in on the flop?

Now that I think about it I believe I overestimated the significance of the draw to the 1500 Royal bonus

            THIS ^^
For obvious reasons, it doesn't make sense for you to factor that in when playing this hand... you're too good a player to not know that.
Like SA said, you should concern yourself with winning the tourney.

I actually had a very simliar hand recently and bet flop, winning the hand right there. (I showed my 2 cards and RF draw)

Nope... I'm not risking going out there (w/sizeable amt of chips ya have) if I don't hit; your flop call is fine but you gotta fold to snapper's well-sized turn bet. No brainer.

Couldn't agree more w/SA that the turn call was not good.

I agree with everyone else here that either A) shove after Snapper bets or B) if you do just call the flop you can't flat call the turn.

I'm assuming Shogun would shove or check raise all in on the flop. Obviously if he did, Sho would have hit the royal cause that's just how he rolls.

                    Yeah

Basically I knew I was giving away that I had a draw to get a chance at a royal bonus or backdoor the winning hand. I admit now that even factoring in the bonus was a miscalculation. Had it been a straight flush draw I would have played it much differently

Any thoughts on if snapper was telling the truth about the set of aces?

                      at best a pair.
i would have go all in the moment he bet the turn and put the onus on him since you have a monster draw

Possible...bet on the turn is weird. Like he lost track of how much was in his stack. Usually when that happens, the player is either really bad or really nervous...so they're either bluffing or have a big hand. Wouldnt be the first time someone tried to trap with aces.
