At first when reading this I got excited at the possibilities
But then a sobering reality hit me
The WSOP is on ESPN
Could you imagine being lucky enough to win this satellite, then lucky enough to make the final table, and then ESPN gets a hold of some of your threads here at SBR?
Who knows what kind of smear campaign and sanctions they would orchestrate.
I mean I have made some not so flattering threads about homosexuals and blacks, ESPN's two most sacrosanct victims
Let's still do it but make it for a smaller non televised tourney

I think he means an SBR WSOP as in a huge points tournament played out at the sbr tables. Not one like in 2011 where someone won a seat to the real WSOP Main Event. Dane, correct me if I'm wrong.

Love the idea.
One big event, one time a year.
Big stakes with a slower blind structure.
Why not do it, SBR? It's the players putting up the points.

Yea, this is just an SBR Series of Poker. No trips to Vegas. Players put up the points and a small percentage of them win a piece of whatever the prize pool is. Plus we get a bracelet (badge)

That would easily be the best part of the whole thing

Probably about 60% of the population has some strong views against homosexuality but 100% of the gang at ESPN are pro homo. Way to represent your viewership.
I can see another angle for ESPN if an SBR player were to make it. You're cruising along doing well for yourself, then get on ESPN's "featured table" and they roll out a fat tennis player named Warrior talking about how he was bullied by you and posters on a message board. ESPN goes into anti-bully mode and you instantly become the villain at the table.

On the upside, you'd probably get sponsored instantly by Hostess and whoever the largest manufacturer of towels is

The idea isn't bad but it will end up being like a 15 person tournament. It would be more fun to get a tournament that could have like 300+ people or have like a 5 tournament series that a few people have mentioned. Every year 5-10 events that win u an SBR bracelet with deep fields.

Agreed. I could really care less about badges and what not but it seems to be the consensus of what drives half of everyone on here to play. If it stayed up forever it may be more enticing.

This would be fun. Get some satellites for the small players and we could get larger fields.

Any big poker event I am down for as long as it's no limit hold-em and not some omaha crap.
