no it was a 125 dollar tournament. he was there for the cash game and main event (which he busted in earlier that day). raymer basically said he plays the wsop and only tournaments with some kinda incentive for him to go to them, really nice guy though actually.

if you want to see the cash game it will be streaming around 1230 eastern time on the poker night in america website, they showed the final table from this weekends main event earlier today on there, was kinda shitty though.

                DON'T RUMBLE WITH RAYMER

                Poker champ fights off robbers

Associated Press reports this week that Greg Raymer, the 2004 World Series of Poker champion, apparently knows how to wield more than a stack of chips when everything is riding on it.

The soft-spoken patent attorney from Stonington, Conn., fought off a pair of attackers Dec. 20 at the Bellagio hotel-casino after he had finished playing a cash game of poker, according to a Las Vegas police report.

Raymer was returning to his room about 2 a.m. when two men approached, the report said. As he opened the door to the room, they tried to push him in.

But the heavyset Raymer resisted and began struggling with the men, the report said. As he was fighting, one of the men pulled out a gun and said: "We just want the money."

But Raymer didn't give up, and yelled for security, causing the men to flee.

A security officer said one of the suspects was a poker player and also recognized him from a previous incident.

Police made an arrest in the case but the report didn't identify the person.

Raymer, known as the "Fossilman" in poker circles, won the WSOP Texas Hold'Em title and $5 million in cash. He beat out a field of 2,576 in May to win the prestigious event.

On a poker message board, Raymer recently wrote: "I don't write this to brag, I just want any robbery-minded people out there who hear about this to know that I'm a tough mark, and they won't get that much off me even if they succeed." Never a truer word written!

i remember when that happened to him at bellagio.

i cant really comment on his play, he often opened for 1 chip over the min raise or shoved. he was pretty observant to the other players even though they kept trying to wow him with their poker knowledge, he was very talkative didnt shut up the whole time he was at my table.

that stream should be on around 1230 this afternoon for this 25/50 cash game, but i dont know if they will be allowed to have the hole cam graphics which would make it almost unwatchable, they had them yesterday but the pennsylvania gaming commission made them take them off, god only knows why, it was on a 30 minute delay.

I never told anyone this, but about 8 months I ago I'm at the Taj and I see Johnny Chan walk in, he goes and sits 300/600, the whole place stops, everyone keeping their eye on him. I mean people were just giving their money away, just so they say they played with a champion. But you know what I did? I sat down.
Usually you need 50-60 grand for a game like that. Only had 6. But I had to know... Played tight for an hour, mostly folded. But then I make a strike. Had rags. So he raised, and you know.. I decided I didn't care about the money. I'm just going to outplay the guy, this hand, right now.
So I reraise. He comes right back over the top, trying to bully me like I'm some effing tourist. So I take about 2 seconds and re-raise again. He takes a few looks at his chips, then his cards, looks at me and he mucks it. I took it down. He takes a look at me and says "Did you have it", I say back to him "I'm sorry John, I don't remember".

I got up and walked right to the cashier. I sat with the best, and I won...

Or wait... crap!! that was Matt Damon in Rounders...
