Put Your Money Where Your Blog Is
by BetUS.com
Blogs are kind of a big deal. Everyone's heard of them and many folks read them daily. Technorati.com (a blog search engine) says that there are over 37.3 million blogs in the blog universe (or blogosphere as it's collectively known as). Technorati also ranks the top 100 blogs -- the REAL kings of the internet jungle.
These guys get more hits, RSS subscriptions, pageviews, and links than the average Internet surfer can shake a mouse at!
Out of Technorati's millions of tracked blogs, BetUS.com is taking bets on which blog will be #1 on their Top 100 list on New Years Eve. Here are the top contendors:
Blog Odds to Win
BoingBoing.net: Directory Of Cool Things +200
Engadget: All Things Gadgets +225
TechCrunch.com: Web 2.0 Startup Profiles +600
Matt Cutts: Google Search Engineer +600
PostSecret: Ongoing Community Art Project +800
Lifehacker: Productivity & Software Guide +1000
Daily Kos: Political Punditry +1000
Scobleizer: Microsoft Geek Blogger +1200
Auto Blog: Automotive News +1200
Gawker: Manhattan News & Gossip +1500
So who's it going to be? Michael Arrington's web 2.0 startup blog? Or the oh-so-practical Lifehacker.com? What about Google engineer Matt Cutts? Or will the gossip oozing Gawker.com dominate the list?
For the average blogger that hasn't brushed up on their odds reading recently (or hasn't raced off to wikipedia to get the low-down on online betting), here's how it works:
Let's say you fancy that Lifehacker.com is going to be the top blog. If you're right, your $100 bet pays you back $1000 (+1000 odds) for a cool $900 profit.
Oh, and we're loving the blogosphere so much that we're not only taking bets on blogs, but we're launching our own very soon. Stay tuned!
There's no other Sportsbook on the earth that's bringing you blog betting.
