this is an interesting article about whether a fighter's age has a significant impact on their likelihood of winning. a lot of data to support the argument. i thought it was appropriate in this thread since the article is mainly addressing the koscheck-hendricks fight, but also b/c IIRC, bigday previously mentioned an ability to identify when a fighter is on the decline.

Great article an thanks for the post. In my last wager with McDonald and Torres this was the case. But the profit is to find this value before the public. Happens with a lot of the popular fighters. Not as much with this fight as I think enough general public hate Koz and would love to see him lose. My position on Hendricks is slight age/amount of damage he has taken in the past, and the fact that I believe Hendricks lands more quality significant strikes with one of them dazing Koz enough for a swarm and TKO.

To play devils advocate, if anyone is betting Kos, KOs by decision is the best way to go
Hendricks has a granite chin, I am assuming great sub defense with Marc Laimon as his coach and strong enough cardio to avoid being out grappled. Moreover, Hendricks seems to be one of those guys that does not cut easily ala BJ Penn/ Anderson

Its interesting because Koscheck is from tht first generation of TUF guys...a lot of whom are now way past it or even retired.... Swick, Quarry, Griffin, I guess Leben, Sanchez, Florian and Bonnar aren't necessarily past it but still are not far off...all are struggling a lot with lingering injuries and the long term effects of constant wear and tear. Jason MacDonald has talked about this and how he thinks we are seeing the demise of a lot of the old school guys and includes himself in this list (will talk about this some more nearer to the Lawlor fight). Koscheck is clearly the one who is in best shape out of all of those dudes, and not surprising as he was clearly and by far the best natural athlete on tht first series of TUF.

Kos is a cunning fighter, he's not going to just stand and bang with Hendricks he knows he has power, he's going to try and keep distance and beat him with athleticism in which he will struggle but ultimately frustrate Hendricks by not falling into his strengths.
