Saw on the news this morning that Lake Shore Drive could have flooding due to 15 foot waves near the icy shore and 25 footers further out. Gonna be real ugly in Chicago - one for the books.

I left Chicago 15 years ago and moved to So Carolina to escape these winter storms. My brother was born in the big blizzard of '67; they're saying this one could be worse! Just got a text from my bro that the snow just started. Good luck to those in the area, I'll be enjoying 60 degrees tomorrow while they're all buried in snow!

Just got home from work...Had to stop at a stop sign, and there was about 2 feet of snow for a 20 ft stretch, because of the snow drift's from the field. Thank you AWD. Otherwise my car would of been stuck no doubt. I will not be leaving the house tonight, and may skip out on work tomorrow, since there isn't anything that "needs" to be done.

I'm in Arkansas...12-14 inches in places. Difference between here and there is that people go ape shit and don't know what to do/how to drive on this. Worst is around Fayetteville campus, hundreds of student cars in the ditch because they thought it would be good idea to go an try to drive on this, despite the fact that they have little honda civics...

I'm in Chicago but I wouldn't know except for the news. I haven't been outside since 3pm and don't plan to until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Power, heat, cable, internet all fine and that's all that matters.

Don't know, quite a bit. But here's the forecast for the rest of the night and tomorrow:

Near zero visibility in snow and blowing snow. Thundersnow. In thundersnow...snowfall rates can exceed 4 inches per hour. Some small hail has been reported with thundersnow...as well as many cloud to ground lightning strikes. Snow drifts 3 feet and higher. Wind chills in the single digits above and below zero. Travel nearly impossible. It is highly recommended to ride out this storm from the Comfort of your home...as venturing outside is outright dangerous. All but emergency or absolutely necessary travel should be postponed. Many area roadways have become impassable. Some major roadways have been closed around the region. I'm in Chicagoland. I drove in it from 7:55-8:30. There was hardly anyone out on the roads so it wasn't too bad - except having to roll real slow behind a truck on a 2 lane highway because the driver would not move from the middle of the 2 lanes.

Are you out of your mind? It would take a month to get rid of this snow in 1967. This is Chicago and it snows here all the time. People will be working their asses off fir the next week to make this livable. I give it a week to clean this mess up.
