    Just saw David Robinson
Pretty cool. He walked out of Starbucks behind me and we were parked next to each other. Told him that his Porsche sedan was a beauty and we talked cars for a minute. I have a Porsche too but not that expensive rig. What a fuggin nice guy. Still looks like he's in college.

He is the one guy that I actually remember where I was when I heard the Spurs had used their lottery pick to select David Robinson. Personally I think he was one of the true all time greats because he was a complete superstar. Led or was near the top of the league in blocks, rebounds and scoring. In those days the Spurs led the league in fewest points allowed because the other team was simply not going to score in the paint. Not only that he was Mr hustle and a gentleman. Wish I could of slipped all that in in our 45 second conversation. Maybe he reads this board. Probably.

I sat next to Avery Johnson a few months ago on a flight from LA to Dallas. Not a nicer man that i've ever seen. He was trying to read his bible but guys would knell down beside him in the isle and gab. He would talk and listen until they were finished.

What a great team along with Sean Elliot. We were lucky to have those guys. If not for LA that team of great athletes and gentlemen win 5 championships. But the 3 they won were as good as it gets. I reckon Texas 41 USC 38 is up there too.

Olajuwon was always better than Robinson, but the Admiral was a great player!

Great player in the half court, not as good of leader and not a transition threat on either offense or getting back on defense as Robinson was. But yea, when the dream was shooting those fade aways you just hoped his arms would get tired. I was a big fan of clyde and Akeem from the Fi-slamma-jamma(jordan you fvvck you made me cry!) to the great battles with the Spurs.

John, I forget you are not in Costa. You know who I get to bump into once in a while. el hombre de manos de piedra

I was always fascinated by his warrior heart and iron chin. He was a tactician in the ring. Sometimes looking like a surgeon carving up his opponent. Sometimes carrying guys for rounds so he could punish them further... ok, I digress

Anyway, I was in Vegas circa late 80's and wandered into the Sahara and there was a small sign saying he was training there. I wandered down a hall and into a room and there he was--having a workout with maybe 30 people in attendance. Most of them were his family, for you see, once again the world had counted him out and said he was washed up. I thought i was in a dream. Getting to watch my idol work out in such an intimate setting. i sat down by his wife and cousins and chatted them up during his sparring session. They closed out the workout by sending his 3 year old son into the ring to chase him down. Roberto danced and shadow boxed for 3 minutes and the youngster never caught him. I was truly amazed at what i was seeing. This was the washed up guy abt to face the monster Iran Barkley?

I got up to leave and his family said "No, stay! he will want to meet you!" So of course I couldn't refuse. He came over and we chatted (his english is really not that bad) and shook hands (his hands are twice the size of mine and I am his height) and there i was talking to the boxing legend I had idolized on TV. I got a bet down on Duran I think at 2-1 in the Barkley fight!

Fast forward to 3 years ago. I had just made the move to Panama and was in the DoItCenter at the mall and who walks in but el hombre himself. The guy waiting on me says "you met him right?" i said "yes, many years ago in Las Vegas, but he won't remember me!" So he drags me over to Duran and they start speaking in spanish, gringo this and that las vegas etc etc and Duran looks over at me and, consummate professional he is, said in perfect english (lying thru his teeth) "Yes, Miguel, I remember you! How are you doing!!"

Of course now i am legend at the DoitCenter!! lololol

I went to the Porsche Driving School in Alabama last year. Well worth the money, you get to drive every single model. I own a 2007 Porsche Carrera 4S Coupe 997, my weekend car but I love it more than any other car I have owned. Fast as hell as well.

Probably.
                                                    and he served our country!

Of course now i am legend at the DoitCenter!! lololol
                                                              Holy fvvvck what a story!!!

He was a no show at a party I went to in Panama maybe the Legends party??
You still there?? At least a couple of guys and maybe me and my son will be there for the Superbowl. Have a drink??
