    How come the New Year Bowl games are not aired on ABC?

    How come the Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl are not aired on ABC? I see its being aired on ESPN. Just the outback 1pm game was shown on ABC but how is it possible the Rose/Fiesta Bowl are not aired on national TV?

    Because they think "V" will have more viewers on ABC than ESPN, they're correct. Wouldn't 99.9% of people who really want to watch football have ESPN anyway?

    I just cannot believe this is being shown on espn. It makes it seem like college football is like women's basketball where they show the title game on ESPN. I haven't watch college footballl much but i know its been a down year.

    It would be funny if they did this to the NBA and aired the championship on ESPN as well because the last few years they don't even show the eastern/western title games on non-cable tv.

    I'm sure they decided to air them on ESPN because ABC can get more viewers for their other programming than ESPN can get. If ESPN wasn't airing the games, they'd probably some shitty NBA or NCAAB game that would draw no viewers.

    fox carried them for like 3-4 yrs, except the rose bowl.

    abc & espn are both owned by disney anyway, so either way disney still rakes it in.

    I don't understand it either but the accountants must be seeing something as Disney is way too greedy to leave any money on the table.

    It seems all this started with Monday Nite Football moving to cable which I once thought was a terrible idea, but with the lead-in now I don't.

    FOX had BCS rights recently, I think, but ABC and CBS had bowl games as well.
