i've had ESPN since about 1983 or so...but the network didn't really have much going for it till the late 80's or so

Yes, cable is a necessity now. Can't watch 90% of bowl games, including BCS, or even Monday Night Football.

I just cannot believe this is being shown on espn. It makes it seem like college football is like women's basketball where they show the title game on ESPN. I haven't watch college footballl much but i know its been a down year.

It would be funny if they did this to the NBA and aired the championship on ESPN as well because the last few years they don't even show the eastern/western title games on non-cable tv.

I'm sure they decided to air them on ESPN because ABC can get more viewers for their other programming than ESPN can get. If ESPN wasn't airing the games, they'd probably some shitty NBA or NCAAB game that would draw no viewers.

fox carried them for like 3-4 yrs, except the rose bowl.

abc & espn are both owned by disney anyway, so either way disney still rakes it in.

Here's my question. Why does ABC call their football games ESPN on ABC? Since it's ESPN on ABC they should air the big bowls on ABC.

I don't understand it either but the accountants must be seeing something as Disney is way too greedy to leave any money on the table.

It seems all this started with Monday Nite Football moving to cable which I once thought was a terrible idea, but with the lead-in now I don't.

They were spread around.

FOX had BCS rights recently, I think, but ABC and CBS had bowl games as well.

espn has two different female college football announcers and both of them have done bowl games this year
