Randy Johnson has looked pitiful this year. he's pitched so bad, that the yankees took an MRI on his shoulder today, and found nothing wrong.

Guidery was quoted as saying it was his mechanics, but Johnson says he has no clue whats going wrong for him.

what would you guys chalk up his pitiful pitching as a slump ?

Age, and trying to push his career farther then he needs to. This guy is done, and needs to hang it up.

it's almost like he's tipping his pitches or something.

i know he's old, but you just don't lose your stuff like that.

did you guys hear his comments last night.

johnson said he's not all washed up at all. he went on to say, "nobody is washed up if there still throwing 96 mph".

if he's not washed up, then is the team just revolting on him or is he just tipping his pitches ? what else could it be really "IF" he's making comments like that last night ?

I wouldn't say that he's washed up just yet. I reckon it's a combination of him just not being as good as he once was and also going through a bad patch at the moment.

Yes he can still throw 96mph, but if your control and location is gone, batters will hit that fast ball. Just because you throw that fast doesnt mean your going to be effective.

Yeah, I didn't understand why on earth he said that. Like you said, it's irrelevant how fast you pitch the ball, it's how effective you do it. I think he needs a little chat with Tim Wakefield.

I'll just bump this in the light of his best performace of the season the other day. Was it back to the old or a case of a bad pitcher having a good day?

I think it was the Tigers bats being ice cold. Johnson looked good, but I think it was more of the Tigers doing.

Well the Tigers certainly made the Yankees look good last night. The Tigers? More like the Detroit Kittens - rolling over on the floor in the 11th and wanting their tummy tickled.

After a couple of respectable starts, Oakland are battering him tonight. So far through 4 IP, he's given up 6 earned runs off 6 hits with 5 walks.

                                  Thats good.

This game is currently in a delay. So Randy will have to wait to get that mark in the loss column.

I just hope Im not jinxing myself by writing that.

I almost did. They came out of the delay, and the Yankees put up 4 runs to get with in 1. Street closed it out though.
