Commissioner for a Day of MLB
this idea was inspired by this morning's episode of "Mike & Mike" on ESPN 2, where Greenie's running a mock campaign for baseball commissioner. It made me wonder what kind of changes those of us on SBRforum would make were we running any of the major sports.

So what changes would you want to make if you were commissioner of baseball for a day?

Do away with the interleague rivalry crap, but keep limited interleague play (AL East to play NL East, NL Central, NL West on a 3-year rotation, like the old NFL schedule did with six divisions).

Put an end to teams paying huge chunk of a player's salary when they trade them. The deal with Mike Hampton dealt to the Marlins and then the Braves a couple of years back was sickening! Something like no more than 5% of any player's salary allowed to be included in any trade.

Get rid of the DH. Either that or go full-tilt to an offensive and defensive lineup.

$1 hot dogs at all stadiums, all the time.

Immediate and not so gentle ejection of any fan who throws anything on the field or goes on the field. Those fans are prosecuted to full extent of law and banned for life from attending MLB games.

Damn the umpires and their oversensitivity: Show replays at the stadiums to the paying customers.

More fair and balanced scheduling (which will be easy once we get rid of the interleague rival thing).

Suspend all play until Pete Rose is given his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.
