How can sports be made better?
April 1st seems like as good a day as any to get creative and think of big picture changes that would make sports more entertaining. I'm not talking about minor tinkering; I'm saying anything goes.

I find that golf takes itself way too seriously and something I would really enjoy would be if spectators were allowed to lob balled-up pairs of socks at PGA golfers during their backswings.

Okay maybe that's a bit too radical. Maybe this should be limited to Davis Love III.

I have always thought that Javelin would be more interesting if someone had to catch it. Someone blindfolded perhaps.

Soccer should allow full contact including tackling.

NBA should create two leagues for blacks and whites. Call it what you want, but I guarantee you'd see a drastic difference in the two leagues and white league's rating's might syrprise you. The NBA fan of yesteryear might come back, No stupid outfits, the actual shot might come back and we will eliminate the high jump from the NBA.

If rating dragged for the black league, the commisioner would allow guns and knives on the court and put bulletproof glass around the court to prevent "DRIVE-BYS" preventing the homeboy fans from getting it. This league might get more support than you think from both races.

I dunno. Maybe the second idea is pretty radical.

Anyone remember that tramblin basketball thing on TV for a while. That's a cool twist to hoops. What about that with football? Tramplins every 5 yards in different areas of the field for recievers/defenders to catch a 15 foot high pass and land on their back in dirt. Brutal!!!

How about kickball on ice, that would be interesting.

I think you drastically over-estimate the public's demand for fundamentals. I don't think the vast majority give two shits about the league being predominently black as long as they see an athletic spectacle. If fundamentals were in high demand, the WNBA would have patrons.

I've got to agree with Winston on that one.

It seems more like you started with the idea that something racist was needed and you were going to force and stretch and twist something racist into the discussion no matter what - without really considering if it makes any sense in the real world.

Personally, I would dispute the premise that anything racist was needed to begin with.
