How bout the 1913 Army football team. Talk about a powerhouse. With an offensive line averaging 221 pounds. Nothing could stop them.

#4In all seriousness, Illusions right on about the most dominant NBA team.
As for college football, I may have to go with Miami's 2001 team. Justabout everyone on that team was an NFL draft pick including eventual top 10 1st rounders that were back-ups in Kellen Winslow and Sean Taylor. Again those guys were back-ups on that team. Completely dominant throughout the year with one close game at B.C. and thats it. Routed Nebraska in the NC game.
Hard to pick one in the NFL. But I can tell you one thing. Whoever it is came from 2000 on and not from the 70's before people actually took it seriously.
College basketball. Even though they didn't win the NC, I like the Duke 98-99 team. Completely loaded. Lost 2 games all season. One was in the Final 4 to UCONN with Hamilton and El Amin and some good roll players. But that Duke team was great.
Curling: The 1983 Finland national team was a beast. Going undefeated the entire season at 3-0. Never had a close match. They were in n sync for entire 9 days of the season.Comment -

#8I'll take the 1976/77 Montreal Canadiens. A team stacked with future Hall-of-Famers, they went 60-8-12 during the regular season, then 12-2 in the playoffs on the way to capturing their 2nd of 4 straight Stanley Cups.Comment -

#11What have I told you guys about old time sports and teams? Come on. They just aren't real
You should no by now you can't compare.
Let me guess since the 72 Dolphins went undefeated in the NFL, they could beat the 2005 version of USC right? Puhlease. The score would be 63-0 USC with no threat of scoring by Miami. USC's defensive tackles are faster than Miami's featured back.Comment -

Why today does no one in college win 7 straight titles? Because the game is actually competitive now as opposed to then.Comment -

Was that the team you use to play for way back in the day John
I think you guys are forgetting about the 1959 Syracuse Orangemen.
The 1959 Syracuse Orangemen of Ernie Davis. One of only two schools to lead the NCAA in seven statistical categories: points, yards gained, rushing yards, touchdown passes, first downs, yards allowed, rushing yards allowed. Averages 451 yards per game while allowing 96. Outscored their opponents 390-59 on the year, went 11-0 and won the National Title.Comment -

When answering a question like this I dont think its fair to say that no old school team who beat the modern day teams.
Back than, the knowledge base as far as exercise regime and supplements were not available like today. The athletes did what they could with what they were given. Having said that I dont want to say that the teams of today might be at an unfairadvtange bc of the advances in science either. These guys are ALSO doing what they can do with what they have been given.Comment -

#23This talk of comparing old stuff to new stuff is mildly interesting but irrelevant to this thread. The concept of dominance is not about transcending eras. It is about who dominated their competition at the time.Comment
