This is tough, here's my contribution
1. SBR Points
2. Paying to get into the "Beat the Prick" competition
3. Paying to 'become' a "Pro"
4. JJ Gold isn't banned for life (we all love racists!) sigh.
5. Crap discussion in any forums because of duders trying to get points... Debate is dead, unless you hate black people or any other minority group that is coming to take away your rental trailer. (I'm guilty of this, loggin in for points, at least I try to say something more than "I like it".) Points have mauled debate. Even when to try to get into it, you get some duder saying 'cam newton goes first'.
That's strong work debate.
Not saying SBR had strong debate, but dissent was regular prior to points - and dissent is CRITICAL to evaluating value... Unless you consider JJ Gold saying "I like so and so" because he saw a report on ESPN - OMG, solid info. Yeah... Just saying, points mauled it all, and paying certain people to talk about NOTHING has mauled this site. Once I heard even a rumor that JJ gets paid to post, this site went DOWNHILL for me. I even stopped going to freebie SBR events that are local, usually, of which SBR is tops amongst ANYONE. I'm probably stupid, no, I know I am.
I just figure, if you have something intelligent to say, you're likely marginalized by 50 morons getting points. What's the point? I am uncertain.

Pro status is easy to get, but I much prefer strong debate. If not, what's the point?

You left off the biggest failure of all.... Cascade.

Cascade reached a high of A-. Standard and Poors had Enron rated AA right before they went out of business. Rating offshore books is a difficult proposition.

Great thread. Many of those listed are certainly legitimate. Some, in fact most, are unfortunately excellent examples of poor planning and execution by SBR managers and senior staff. Others like MySBR were concept shortcomings. A few like the new SBROdds needs more time.

A few were mentioned such as poker along with the WSOP and Ryder Cup. This was year one for both. SBR was denied a press pass into the WSOP on some technical snafu. Next year will be much better. I loved the Ryder Cup. It was a lot of fun and it will be expanded to possibly 25 man teams next year.

Some items like sportsbook cash for the US guys is just out of our control. We have a top name lawyer who concluded it could violate US law. We are trying to hire different law group to start at A and work through the entire concept and give us the best options.
