POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The brother of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Tyrone Carter had his sentence for driving with a revoked license increased from six months to five years because he failed to report to jail on time.
Tank Carter was scheduled to report to a Broward County prison on Jan. 6, but decided against it when his brother told him the Steelers had a good chance of going to the Super Bowl. On Tuesday, Broward Circuit Judge Stanton S. Kaplan increased the sentence.

"Even knowing what I know now, I would do it again," Carter said. "It was the greatest game in my life."

Carter watched the Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks from the 50-yard line in Detroit and partied with rapper Snoop Dogg after the game.

The brothers have been close since growing up in a rough section of Pompano Beach.

"I would have done the same thing," Tyrone Carter said of his brother's decision. Winning the Super Bowl meant "we finally made it together."

      Funny one.

I love stories like this, where some knucklehead newspaper stringer refuses to let the facts get in the way of a good story.

      The way I read it:

Not as if he was "late" reporting on January 7 or something for his January 6 date -- he never reported at all.

His reason for failing to report, ever, for a six month sentence was that a one-day event involving his brother had about a 1-in-8 chance of happening about one month into his six-month sentence.

      5 years seems about right.

5 years? For driving with a suspended license and not showing up on time?

Tell me this is about the gulags, and Siberia, and all that Soviet sh*t from the past.

Tell me this is about a police state far far away...

At the very least tell me that that moron of a judge was on the Seahawks.

This just figures. No party is worth losing 4.5 years of your life just to party with some skinny crack head named Snoop Dog. In watching the interview on Cold Pizza, it doesn't surprise me at all. When will these brutha's learn that linking verbs are out freinds.

Having said that, many laws need to be changed. These losers shouldn't be in charge of a McDonalds let alone thec ountry that I could take to new heights. This is one of the reasons when a cop goes down, it takes me a week to get the smile off my face. Even though, I suppose this would be more on the judge. The problem with judes is whwn they give these sentences, they don't even realize how long they really are. 4 years in prison would be like 20 years in real life time.

For those of you that think I'm full of shit, a local prosucutor who ened up having to go to prison said the same thing.

Bottom line is new and less laws, less power, gets the homeboys to talk right or don't let them on television, and put me in power.

You wanna talk about a dedicated fan. Five years is joke, but I'm sure it will get reduced because of the national exposure.

Five years for driving on a suspended license is indeed silly...

...but how much would anyone like to bet that the suspended or revoked license isn't his first offense? The judge already delayed the start of his sentence so he could spend the holidays with his family, and this is how he repaid the favor.

Somebody find me his real name and I bet I can produce a rap sheet --- Not to be confused with Snoop's rap --- a mile long.

TGO! I feel the same way. I hate cops,
they are bad mudderphuckers most of them. If people
realized how corrupt a great % of police officers were
I think there would be riots. I dont know about cops
anywhere else, but in California we have some
bad ones. TGO you are cool with me bro!!
