    Question on potential bracket scam?
OK, I'm sure every sportsbook known to man has tournament bracket pools where you fill out a bracket and whoever has more correct winnners at the end of 63 games wins $10,000 or whatever the cash prize may be.

Here is the problem I see on bets like this. How can you prove there was a winner? I've never done this before, but I can't see everyone elses brackets so at the end of the tournament I'm supposed to trust the book saying who won? I don't get that.

I never gave that much thought. You're not wrong.

I guess it's the old story: stick with reputable sportsbooks and you won't have a problem.

As long as the contests are free, there's nothing to lose (except a little time) even with the shadiest book on the planet. But if there are entry fees I would be inclined to factor in the reputation of the sportsbook.

i know exactly what your saying TGO. heres a story about a forum owner that fixed his contest.

i've actually witnessed a forum owner fix his contests before. crazy ivan's forum is shut down now, but thats about as low as you can go. thats the reason i don't like doing contests at all. (ask the old school posters about this crazy ivan and his scams)

the one thing i can tell you though, and you can bet on this. if i'm running a contest it will be run fair and by the rules.

An Orwellian lottery, huh? Never thought about that, but certainly not out of the question.

SBR's contest allows you to see everyone's brackets. I think most do, I know Bowmans' does. Even when you run a paper contest the mgr. should make copies.

Like Mudcat said, if it's free, there isn't much you can do but invest your time wisely.

Well they say it's always the woman who just picked games by the names
              that wins bracket contests anyway.

I won't mention any names but this has been going on forever. In fact wish I had a quarter for every red Corvette said to be given away by one particular book, John probably knows who I am talking about. We suspected it for a long time but eventually an employee of the book came out and admitted there was never a Corvette given away. If anyone ever called and asked who won they were to be given immediately to a supervisor. LOL.
