This list is for the NFL,NBA, NHL and MLB
1. Wayne Gretzky - Never seen anything like him before or after. Scoring machine and won it all many times.
2. Bill Russell - If championships make the man, Russell has 11 of them. Will never be duplicated. Never!
3. Michael Jordan - He could do it all...and he did.
4. Barry Bonds - Hate'm of course, and not just because of his steroid enhanced numbers but also as one of the foremost egotists ever to (dis)grace the diamond. But take away the steroids and the man would have still put up epic numbers and his skill in the field was unsurpassed.
5. Ted Williams - .406...unreal
6. Walter Payton - All who came before him (this means you Jim Brown) and after him (this means you Emmit Smith) take a backseat to the man they called "Sweetness"
7. Tom Brady - Stop groaning, the guy is a winner and if it were not for the Giants stealing Super Bowl XLII in 2008 this would be a slam dunk and there would be no debate. A 19-0 season capped off by a Super Bowl would have put to rest any questions but alas, it was not to be and there is now room for disagreement.
8. Babe Ruth - Yeah, he's 8th so whatcha gonna do about it? How would this chubby slugger have fared in a world of full time athletes and inclusion of African American players? I'm not so sure he would have been the legend he is now. But then again, who can say for sure and that's why he is on the list.
9. Barry Sanders - Amazing runner who had the ability to create his own line of sight upon getting the ball. If a hole broke down he would take it outside and away from oncoming rushers. And he went out on top.
10. Mario Lemieux - The year before he was called up to play for the Penguins he amassed 282 points in Juniors...in one season! Injuries and his battle with Hodgkins lymphoma curtailed what could have been an even greater career.
That's it kids. I'm sure there'll be no debate and everyone will congratulate me for creating the definitive top 10 list of the greatest players ever to don a uniform in the 4 major sports. Your welcome and good night.
