LOL, I lost like 10k playing poker behind my wifes back like 3 years ago and went for awhile, it was pretty depressing some of the stories you heard. Then I started betting sports and made 13k off my bookie, IM CURED!

Answered yes to 2 of them...But both of those could go either way.
After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more?
Have you ever gambled to escape worry, trouble, boredom or loneliness?

I answered "no" to all of them.
I flunked the "are you a pathological liar?" test though.

Damn, if you guys are really answering yes to double digits you need help....
I think if you are stealing or selling things to gamble, then you definitely don't need to be gambling. I can't even imagine being in a situation where I was betting money that I couldn't afford to lose.

Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling? By hanging at a gambling forum, doing that now
Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy? Was mad at the world after a couple of beats
Did gambling affect your reputation?People know I gamble, doesn't bother most
Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? Everytime I stretched out and bet a loser
Did you ever gamble to get money with which to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties? Have use winnings to pay debts, but didn't specifically gamble to get the money.
Did gambling cause a decrease in your ambition or efficiency? Right now
After losing did you feel you must return as soon as possible and win back your losses? Actually no
After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more? Absolutely
Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone? Ever been to a casino or racebook and just hung around?
Did you ever borrow to finance your gambling? Every been with a bunch of friends who didn't want to leave when you're busted?
Have you ever sold anything to finance gambling? No
Were you reluctant to use "gambling money" for normal expenditures? No
Did gambling make you careless of the welfare of yourself or your family? No
Did you ever gamble longer than you had planned? Most casino trips. Stayed at the dogtrack watching simulcast horse races from Australia late into the evening.
Have you ever gambled to escape worry, trouble, boredom or loneliness? Probably not
Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling? It's illegal to send money to offshore books.
Did gambling cause you to have difficulty in sleeping? Absolutely
Do arguments, disappointments or frustrations create within you an urge to gamble? No
Did you ever have an urge to celebrate any good fortune by a few hours of gambling? Nah
Have you ever considered self destruction or suicide as a result of your gambling? No
I make an 11, 55%.

Yes to 5. But some of those questions overlap, like the efficiency and losing time from work/school. Surely those are basically the same question?

GA is a joke for Bonehead compulsive slot players
who have no clue what betting on sports feels like, they are sharing about "the zone" when they are playing the machines
WTF is that when I got 15 minutes to cap the 2nd half
Go to AA/NA

Didn't take the test, I know I don't have a problem.
If you have a system for ALL of your gambling, have a seperate bank, use money management
and know when to quit when you're ahead or down, you will do pretty good.
Start thinking with the big head. Some days you're the bug, other days you're the windshield.

I've seen this questionnaire many times. It's unscientific and I think it's shameful the way anti-gambling zealots use it to convince people that they're addicts as opposed to normal people with normal, occasional degeneracies...
A professional or serious amateur gambler must answer yes to 3, 5, 12, and 14; and will almost certainly answer yes to 8, 15, and 17 also. Only a very small handful of them will actually be gambling addicts.
I personally know 5 legit compulsive gamblers and what they do to themselves is incredibly sad... but I interact with dozens of gamblers every day IRL and for every legit addicted gambler I have known through the years there are probably 20X losers who claim to be addicted, but are really just assholes who use the excuse of compulsive gambling to justify the way the act and treat people. "Oh, it isn't my fault that I didn't pay you back even though I had the money. I'm a compulsive gambler. I can't help it."

AA, GA, NA, they ALL ask everyone to quit their vice altogether. Why don't they have a program like OA (Overeaters Anonymous) that helps you control your fun instead of trying to eliminate it 100%which sets most people up for failure over and over again!
