Exacta boxed the 9-1 shot I was betting with a quick pick on opening day at Sportsman's Park once, and the 120-1 shot they gave me came on top to pay something like $1100 for the $2 I staked. Last race of the day after nothing but chalk had come previously.

The Kentucky Derby exacta Barbaro/Bluegrass Cat $2 exacta paid almost $600. Cashed with a $2 exacta box and $1 exacta box. Had about $90 bet on that race altogether. Also hit on $2 pick 3 on that race, paid around $280. That was a good day!
Straight bet with highest odds was a 35-1 turf maiden race at Gulfstream, put $10 across the board.Comment -
Gotten close a few times with college basketball futures. Year Mizzou made Elite Eight I had them at 125:1. Love futures. I've got Arizona 125:1 and BYU 125:1 this year.Comment -
Won with the late Bobby Hamilton to win Talladega race at 70-1 many years ago.
The only reason I placed this bet is that Kenny Wallace raced the same car to a second place finish in the previous Dega race. I figured if his sorry ass almost won with this car it was worth a shot with old man Hamilton holding the wheel.

Can't remember the name of the horse but the jockey was Anthony Ranelli and the trainer was Lynn Simon. It was the last race at Woodbine on a summer afternoon about 14 years ago and I was down big. I put my last $5 bucks on this horse ($2 win, $3 place...cause I was gun shy) and he came from last to first. The trainer/jockey combo was known for producing upset winners a few times over the course of the season. Never had a winner that big since...Have certainly lost 1000 times that since then. Horse went off at 106-1. The track is a difficult place to win long term.Comment -
