Did Full Tilt Poker rob Clonie Gowen of 40 million dollars?
The final arguments in the civil suit brought by professional poker player Clonie Gowen against Full Tilt Poker have ended, with a judgment in favor of Full Tilt Poker.

Very interesting article bc I personally was sure she was a member of "team fult tilt" or whatever. Every time she was on TV she was covered with Full Tilt Poker logos. Her claim is that she was given a 1% ownership of Full Tilt (valued by her lawyers estimates at around 40 mil) for her endorsement of them from 2004 when she was supposedly offered this 1% ownership deal til 2008 when they released her (even though she was apparently never paid anything).

The lawsuit was dismissed in February of last year or needs to be amended to be more specific but seeing who she never received any buy-ins to tournaments, was basically never paid anything this case is kinda hard to figure. She claims her only compensation was the 1% ownership of full tilt but somehow doesnt have a contract or anything just a verbal agreement.

Howard Lederer (apparently a big shot at Full tilt) offered her 250k as compensation for her work after full tilt informed her she was being released which she refused.

After reading the full article her case is completely dismissed, as Willy Wonka would say YOU LOSE, YOU LOSE, YOU GET NOTHING! GOOD DAY SIR!

Sounds like Gowen got ****** out of around 40 mil

I always wondered what came about from this. I know she was suing them for her 1% stake in the company. God damn that sucks for her; I'll make a note to read through everything later.

Apparently not its interesting bc looking at Gowen's pics on Google shes wearing full tilt poker logos in almost every pic. Apparently FT got this endorsement for absolutely nothing.

FT bent Gowen over (which sounds pretty fun)

no contract, just a verbal agreement.......and this thing made it to a court .

Don't get me wrong, she seems like a cool chick and I feel bad for her, but not getting something of that magnitude on paper is just plain stupid.

Well its interesting when you setup a endorsement like that you apparently become a partner in the business and would be responsible for Full Tilt's losses if the business lost money (at the time she signed up in 2004 they were actually losing money), now of course FT exploded since then and is worth around 2-3 billion but of course many poker sites have gone out of business, though FT was much more likely to be successful given the amount of marketing they had but a large part of that marketing was due to offering ownership shares to ppl like Phil Ivey to endorse their product allover the TV, hopefully Phil Iveys got his 5% ownership (worth around 130 million) in writing

Article is over a year old, I guess the key to the whole case was that a share was never as high as 1%.

Clonie should fill out an SBR complaint form, only prob is Full Tilt has a max payout of 5k a week so shell have to get the max payout for the next 160 years

She never had a chance at being awarded a dime of that money from a US court.
