Not surprising. A lot of people should be eating crow today. It was absurd to think this guy quit.

The dude could have a career ending knee injury requiring amputation to save his life and it wouldn't change the bitter fans in Chicago.

Only way he should've been walking around and not playing is if its a Grade 2 Tear (assuming it really was a torn MCL). Grade 1, he could've played, Grade 3, he would've been in obvious pain and not putting any pressure on it.

Regardless, the Bears training staff/team Dr are pretty dumb for letting him walk around. Any time there's a knee injury, you want to ice it and raise the knee, so swelling goes down and you can make a proper evaluation... they were letting him walk around, which was just dumb. That leads me to believe it was Grade 2 at worst.

Unless it happened on the first play it doesn't change my opinion. He is a second stringer type. He had a wide open guy in the 1st and over threw him by 10 yards because he thought the rush was on him...it wasn't. Hey, being a good QB in the NFL is a super tall order...no shame at not being a great NFL QB. He needs to work on his clip board skills now though.

Sounds like a slew of former NFL players and overactive Twitter users might owe Jay Cutler an apology. According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times, the Bears quarterback suffered an MCL tear in Sunday's NFC Championship game.

Doctors are still determining the grade of the tear. It's worth noting that the grade of the MCL tear is significant. A tear can sometimes be another word for "sprain."

Because Cutler was simply standing on the sideline and not getting treatment on his knee during the second half Sunday, many outside observers (who, of course, could not feel Cutler's pain) were quick to criticize his toughness and heart.

Though the initial harsh reaction to Cutler's injury was startling (how often do NFL players get questioned like this?), it wasn't unprecedented. LaDainian Tomlinson went through a similar ordeal a few years ago when a knee injury kept him out of playoff action. Tomlinson's knee injury just happened to be an MCL.
