No way to increase a limit that I know of. I think the best you can achieve is flying under the radar a little while you get some good bets in before they start to limit you hard. Even then, if you're taking their best lines, you can't stay under the radar for long.

So I guess I'd say enjoy it while you're able to, and move on once the limits are too low to make it worth your while to keep playing there. All part of the game.

I got one book to reestablish my old limits once but I had to agree not to bet on one particular sport.

Get a friend some money and have him set up and register an account with the book you are interested in. Log into new account under a different ip number and start betting.

I have had books restore limits after losing back winnings. It also helps to bet some games that are not what the book calls "steam" - betting on lines that are moving.

You can not. Once they lower your limits, it's a final decision. It's not like they'll change their mind out of the goodness of their hearts, or because you really are a swell guy afterall.....

but there isn't an endless supply of trustworthy shops where you can get on a good sized bet at top odds

Ask if you can phone in your bets - sometimes limits are higher on the phone.

I only managed it once to get my limits raised. Now they are not high but still usefull. Most of the requests are really waste of time. I don't understand why a lot of bookies don't have the option to ask for a higher amount on the webpage. Those bookies are still usefull even when the limits are low.

It is possible to gets your limits raised at times. I was betting with RAS and hitting the lines at 5dimes ASAP. I promised to not bet these any longer and my limits were raised. I'm sure other books would accommodate something reasonable like this.
