All of the major sports have too many teams. Can eliminate 2 to 4 teams in each sport. Expansion fees were easy money for the owners, have too many players who have no business being on a NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL team. Players unions would never allow contraction even if it means you have a better product.

Forget about it being a professional sports league for a second, and just look at it in pure business perspective:

The players union doesn't want it.
The average and bubble players definitely don't want it.
The elite players are divided on it.
The owners are divided. (Less revenue sharing from league, but increased competition for playoffs, etc.)
The league isn't into admitting defeat. They would rather get new ownership for failing franchises rather than dissolve them.

That adds up to a big "Ain't Gonna Happen."

I agree that the NBA should contract. It is too watered down. Cut the Clippers, Griz, Sac & NJ and the league will improve a lot.

Nets are useless in Jersey but are moving. The Clippers are the only other useless franchise in the league. I wish they would move to Seattle.
