Does anybody have a theory as to why the 2nd half scoring is so high compared to the 1st half?

thats why a total on a CBB game if its say 144 the 1st half is usually half of 144 then -4 which would make it around 68 for the 1st halfComment -

#3The first 10 minutes or so of the game tend to be a feeling-out period. The pace of the game isn't quite what it is later on, and shooters haven't gotten into a rhythm yet.
Also, you have free throws at the end of a game and teams that are behind become more desperate and the use of the shot clock goes out the window.Comment -

#4Even in games without the fouling at the end the the totals are almost always much higher on the second half. Often 20+ points more. Maybe the rythym answer is better but than I don't get why in the NBA this is not the case.Comment
