Boston got 2 elite players, and likely will take the division.
May miss the Wild Card too.

I hope not, i want the Mets to get him. Plus we have 2 Venezuelans already, so it would be a smoother environment for him.

I doubt the Yanks miss the playoffs unless it is far past the trade deadline that trouble brews. As of now I like many others love Boston to take this division but bottom line is if there is any doubt of the playoffs in Yankee land they will make some blockbusters happen before July.

yankees have a very old team, sorry you are not going to win anymore with jeter at short, too slow, a 43 year old reliever , sorry he was getting hit hard by the rangers at the end of the year, just think they finish third in there division and out of the playoffs until jeter retires

Nos what 43 year old reliever are you referring too. Mariano is 40 and had probably one of the two or three best yrs of his career last year. For anyone to question the great rivera is ludicrous. They guy is the greatest reliever in the history of the game and a top 20 player of all time. Any position. Nos come back to earth bud.

Honestly pete prob not that much. Championship in his first year with yanks. With three yrs left. They wouldn't of won that championship without burnett

Lots of stuff is going to happen even before the season starts. Can't really say the Yankees will miss or make the playoffs just yet. I expect they'll talk Pettitte into playing at least half a season like the Astros let Clemens do. Pettitte gets in shape and then hits the ground running in June. They will definitely trade for a pitcher now or later ... prior to the season will be better for keeping their prospects I think.
I also would not be surprised if the Yanks cock blocked the Rangers on Beltre if Texas pursues him. Beltre gives them better defense over A-Rod at 3rd and gives them multiple interchangeable parts for DH with Posada-Rodriguez-Beltre to keep A-Rod fresh from having to play in the field as much. Just a random thought.

They would never get beltre. Posada is full time DH. And pettite is coming back. Being reported on radio here in NY that he is close to signing two year deal.

I just wouldn't be shocked by anthing they do. The Red Sox signings + losing out on Lee changed a lot of things for them.

The Yankees don't need a free agent right now, they have enough talent to stay right there until the trade deadline and then grab a nice player or two from a team with no hopes of winning.

you know how they lie about there ages, i was just exaggerating to how old he really looks, but I agree he looked good up till around early sept, just saying you can not depend on past performances, the team is old, will not compete, both my feet are on the ground
hey its a tough division
one more thing , no where near top 20, sorry not even top 10 yankees

i semi agree with you on the jeter thing. as far as top 20 baseball player of all time i am not a big historian and too hard to argue about players from 70 yrs ago. we will agree to disagree.

The Yankees don't need to get people for the full year. They're good enough to be in playoff position in July, then get people near the trade deadline for the playoffs.

Remember the Red Sox lost Beltre and Martinez. So they basically added a bit more power and speed.

whoa whoa, let's slow down there. This old team won a World Series 2 years ago and ran into a really good texas team in the ALCS last year. Who says the injury bug doesn't hit the redsox again like last year? Who's to say old Jeter doesn't rebound this year and hit .300. The Yanks could go out and get Greinke or Felix. Way too many variable...... To predict the Yankees won't make the playoffs in the middle of December is just comical. Typical red sox homer talk that should be laughed at and then ignored. BTW, how did it feel to not even make the playoffs last year???
