Was even better than I thought it would be. Seems like they released it a few days early here in the Boston area and I went to see it tonight.
It really brings you back to the days when boxing was worth watching - the decent fights ESPN use to have each week with guys like Ward. They try hard to push the 80's-ness in the movie with certain scenes and music.
They don't even put any focus in the movie on Ward's memorable trilogy with Arturo Gatti - but we all know that was so good it could be its own movie someday.
Wahlberg's acting is pretty good but I've got to say that Christian Bale really steals a lot of the movie. I could easily see Bale getting a best supporting actor nomination this year for it.
Get out to see it!
