wtf is wrong with my car? all mechanics check in!
just came home from my night shift at work. while driving there and driving home, my car would fuckin cut off on me while im driving or stopped at a light! this crap is ultra dangerous, it would jut cut off in the middle of no where. a couple dashboard lights would come on, steering while would lock, cant accelerate. totally unmoveable except being able to brake. so i would have to put my car in park, then turn it off and turn it back on to get it going again. therefore my car isnt dead, i have no idea wtf the problem is with it. pretty scared to drive to the mechanic tomorrow, gonna take the bus to work tonight lol.

anyone have a clue whats wrong with it?

thank god i wasnt on the highway...

I had a similar problem years ago, and it was a computer chip. Could be anything though.

im guessing you just have the car in park correct? does it stall when just sitting there in your driveway?

and do those lights on the left cluster ever go off?

hasnt stalled YET when im letting it warm up in the driveway. has only stalled while im DRIVING it, and while stopped at the red light. therefore hasnt stalled in park, only in drive. im gonna get a new car by summer, cant deal with all the problems with this car.

When you have to stop at a redlight start coasting beforehand and slip into neutral until you are ready to go again. In college I had a Toyota that would stall, as long as I kept it in neutral and hit the gas before I thought it would stall it would keep running. Got my doors blown off on a regular basis at a lot of redlights as guys thought I was trying to drag them but at least the car kept running.

A few simple thing you should check - Make sure you have a good/clean connection at the battery. If the terminal is loose or heavily corroded, it could be jiggling loose and cutting the power to your car, causing it to shut off. All you'd have to do is tighten the terminal if loose, or if it looks corroded, clean the terminal and the pole.

Also it could be something with your ignition. Start your car and let it run for a few seconds, then start jiggling the key around a bit. If it cuts off, then you probably have an ignition problem and you'll just have to get a new ignition.

check your fuses, in a nissan there should be a fuse box to the left of the steering wheel and another under your hood..

its not the alternator or battery, or it wouldnt start back.

Its a sensor, Idle air control, mass air flow, manifold absolute pressure sensor, etc.. Needs to be taken to a shop that can hook it up.

Has your check engine light been coming on recently?

Does it do it when its cold (first few minutes of driving) or just after it reaches operating temperature?

it's an electronic sensor. there are two there it's one or the other. replace them both. you will stall at red lights and yes it will start up again but the electronic sensor will keep shorting out if you don't replace it. only about 30.00 plus labor 1/2 hr
