    some observations
College defense: They seem so far behind college offenses in terms of tackling, defensive schemes, running quarterbacks, blitzing, etc. Are the players not fast enough, not coached well enough, not smart enough to recognize offensive plays, not disciplined enough to stay in there gaps? The only teams that I think have played good defense were the old USC team and Nebraska. I know I'm generalizing in this post, but I think the defensive play has been less than stellar these last few years. Has there been an over emphasis on outscoring the other team rather than stopping the team with your defense? How many times do we see quarterbacks with over a hundred yards rushing? How does the triple option work in college, where no NFL team would even think to run that kind of offense?

Running College Quarterbacks: I'm so sick of seeing running quarterbacks. Why does a team have a running back if team is going to let the quarterback rush every other down? Why are the majority of running QB's not successful in the NFL. Why are these QB's always in the shotgun? Do the lack the most fundamental quarterbacking skills to take the ball from under the center? They don't know what a drop back is; they have no fundamental footwork; they can't run a 3, 5, or 7 step drop back from center. What happened to fundamentals and reading defenses? I tell you why no running quarterback will ever have longevity in the NFL. They expose themselves to defenses that are much more apt to end there careers with one hit. You need the ability to scramble and run when needed, but that should not be the basis of anyones offensive.

Many more player mismatches on the field allows teams to run spread offenses that you do not see in the NFL so they can spread the field out and let guys run. You have 19 year old cornerbacks that are fortunate to be playing college ball attempting to cover a 22 year old wide receiver that is a highly touted NFL prospect.

NCAAF is a completely different game than the NFL it is not like college to pro hoops.
