#6sounds a little fishy to me
He was him on Larry King a couple nights ago with his lawyer. Apparently he was the only one of 300 clients of the accounting firm who were also caught cheating to go to jail.
They gave an example of another man you paid a 52 million fine and brought back all his offshore accounts to the USA and got 6 months probation. No jail time.
The lawyer said that Snipes was a "trophy" case that some judge can say he put away because is famous.Last edited by DwightShrute; 12-09-10, 01:44 PM.Comment -

Plaxico Burress had a gun that was registered in Florida but not in New York. They were willing to destroy his life over it. The same mayor that was cheering for the Giants that previous Superbowl Sunday decided to use him to set an example. Sick. He almost shot his own dick off. Many of the laws in this country make no sense at all.Comment -

#20really cant believe this guy will do the time. You get the feeling from the interview he and that crooked ass attorney did on espn he had something up his sleeve. Seems like this is something to prove a point involved. He will not do much time , if any at all I assure you!Comment -

#22No doubt they made an example out of him. But that kind of goes with the territory of being famous. I wonder if the offered him a pre-trial plea? He was found not gulity on something like 8 charges so its likely he couldnt even plead for less than 3 years. Really quite a shame. The sentence could have been a fat fine instead the taxpayers have to pay for a tax stiff to live in jail for over 2 years.Comment -

#23Wasn't part of the story that he did some work in Africa and made millions and then When the IRS said he should have to pay taxes on that too (which is the law) he refused?Comment -

#24Snipes made 37M in a 5 year period and felt he shouldn't pay any taxes. Once a celebrity case gets attention, the Feds are going to go all out to look good. Should have just paid the taxes and been done with it.Comment -

#26Snipes will end up in the adjacent satellite minimum security prison camp, according to Federal Bureau of Prison spokesman Edmond Ross.
He'll probably be fine , should be mostly non violent offendersComment
