Anyone that watched the nba playoffs knows that amare was the best player on the suns. felton has been an average pg for the last 4 years and amare is making him and other scrubs great. amare has always been able to get his own shot at any time. people thought that amare would be nothing without nash.

nash is great but the suns were a 3 seed last year and now gonna struggle to make the playoffs with the same team basically and everyone healthy. nash won an mvp the year kobe averaged 36, droped 81 in a game, outscored a team after 3 quarters 62-61 by himself....he raped that girl that year so didn't get it. nash obviously will never win again he is too old now.

Not nearly the same team. They lost Amare, one of the game's superstars, and Barbaso (a former best 6th man award winner), as well as Louis Amundson who was a major contributor/emotional spark plug for the bench. And their remaining one big man, Robin Lopez, has been injured for weeks.

They only have JRich, and an aging Grant Hill left. Plus a vastly overpaid Channing Frye. But looking back over the Nash era, those three are all late comers. New players: Warrick (has started), Turkgolu (has started), Earl Barron (has started), Josh Childress. If Nash is scratching his head about trying to get this team to gel, can you imagine what it must look like to backup PG Goran Dragic, the hero in the last playoffs against the Spurs?

Last season the Suns found a major key around the ASB by starting Amare and Lopez side by side. Suddenly their defense looked good; twin towers with shot altering capacity. No more easy baskets for opponents (always the criticism against the Suns). And offensively the same two players made it pick-your-poison inside, as well as outside where the 3 point shooters are always waiting. On top of that they had a second unit that could beat any other second unit with a style of play that was very different (much nastier) from the first unit. That whole dynamic is gone. In terms of success formula, they had to start completely from scratch.

This is who the Suns have let go in the Nash era: Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson, Raja Bell, Barbosa, and a whole bunch of hot three point shooters like Eddie House. Does anyone think the Spurs or Lakers front office would be that stupid? You keep your core players, and trade around them.

Anyway, good for Amare that he's lighting it up in NY.

        Dark Horse,

obviously amare is gone lol. But the other players are plug in players like warrick, childress. barbosa wasn't that big of a loss because they got turku who can produce instant offense as well. the core of this team is the same. nash, j rich, hill, dudley, dragic, frye, lopez. the suns bench is still the best bench in the league- they don't have a dominant offensive player though that can get you 25/night consistantly.

nash needed amare more than amare needs nash (at this point in their careers)
the suns would be instant contenders in the west right now with amare- just like last year.

I agree with you that the Suns organization is very dumb. If they left joe johnson with them, they would easily have 1 title by now. Johnson, Nash, and Amare- with Johnson having developed the way he has? That would be an unstoppable trio that could contend with the lakers every single season. Suns mngement did not think Johnson would blossom like he did in ATL.
