Meyer looked out ahead and didn't like the landscape he was seeing. Florida St is on the rise and the new coach that Miami signs will do a better job in state than Shannon did of recruting... Add to the fact that Saban, and some of the other top flight schools will continue to pluck a few good Flordia players.

He is such an intense competitor and success had always come easy for his other teams it seems as though he cant hack some losses. Kind of like the guy on your baseball team when you were a kid who always hit the home runs but when he struck out it took his parents, the coaches and all of his teammates to get him back into the game.

I think this is the best option. His absence was clearly felt this year and with the offense struggling, he would definitely improve them in that area. Not sure if any of the players they have is the answer at QB at this point but Mullen really did a good job at MSU this year with not much talent under center. They wont be down long as much as I hate to say it as a Vols fan.
