Second Candle Light Vigil for Jayson Werth Planned
- November 29th, 2010 10:28 am ET
Many fans believe the first candle light vigil sent energy to Jayson himself who then reconsidered leaving for a bigger payday in another major league city.
The first candle light vigil saw hundreds of Phillies faithful walk down Broad Street with lighted candles in a procession to the stadium. The first vigil for Werth featured people such as Sal Romano, an unemployed factory worker in the 98th week of his 99 weeks of unemployment compensation who said “It’s important to me to do this for Werth. I think they should pay him the 200 million dollars if ya’ ask me. I have like four bucks left to my name but I’m buying candles for tonight with it at the dollar store on Oregon Ave”.
This time even more faithful are expected including Dorothy Peters of Port Richmond an unemployed garment worker. Dorothy told the EP that, "I don't even know how I'm going to pay the kids tuition right now. But one things for damn sure, come April I'll be dressed all in red with a beer in my hand screaming at the ballpark". Friday night I'll be the one screaming at the candle thing for my Jayson too let me tell ya' somethin' honey"!
Details for the candle light vigil for Jayson Werth will be provided later this week.
