Finishing 1st is still important to Real as it will help them avoid being draw against another giant. A win would guarantee them top spot, very important to see what team Mourinho puts out.

Madrid also want to win the group, finishing 2nd is not a good option since they'll have to face the best team of another group. I think this game could be a draw, but I'm not gonna put my money against Madrid's talent and goal threat.
