need some opinions on game consoles

I haven't played a video game since Mario Cart. But xbox live seems pretty fukin cool.

I reccomend the PS3 and Call of Duty games .The Xbox is $100 cheaper than the PS3 @$199 I suggest you take advantage of Black Friday deals you could get a game system plus 1-2 games + a dvd.

I have a PS3 and love it cause of the bluray features. That's mostly what I use it for. The deciding factor will be the exclusive games that each console has. Find out if the Xbox has any exclusive games that you're interested in.

I have PS3, I think the connectivity of the PS3 is unreal.

If you get a PSP you can do some cool things.

get the ps3 if u like sports games...especially baseball. MLB The Show is the greatest baseball game ever created and is only available for Playstation. The MLB 2k series is so glitchy and trashy, it sucks. I regret buying an xbox and would much rather have a ps3. It also has the blu-ray player which is nice and has free internet gaming which I am sure you will be using...rather than $60/year for xbox. Just an all-around better system.

i like ps3 better, i never caught on to the whole "amazing controllers" concept that 360 users pushed on me. the ps3 controler is simply beautiful. and blu-ray graphics are currently top shelf. for $199 you get internet game play for life, no xbox live payments or ring of death either.

The selection of console depends on your motivation. If you want something social go with the wii. If you want a blend of social and "hardcore" gaming go with the Xbox 360+kinect. If you want hardcore gaming with the occasional foray into social go PS3+move. If you want pure hardcore gaming with the highest possible graphic capabilities go with PC gaming. The PS3 also has a blu-ray player but this should be an irrelevant factor when considering terms of gaming. If having a blu-ray player also appeals to you factor it into the process however.

Despite the debate the difference between a PS3 and Xbox 360 is really marginal for the lay gamer. You will get more exclusive release games on the xbox 360 and the trend is for most games releasing downloadable content to do so first on that Xbox 360(with the developers releasing it for the PS3 weeks to months later).

Your selection criteria of sports games and FPS as preferences mean that Xbox 360 or PS3 would be the choice to consider.

If it were me I would go with the Xbox 360 for the following reasons:
Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 2
Halo 3
Halo Reach
Halo ODST
+Xbox Live marginally better for Peer Vs. Peer FPS multiplayer

I have a PS3 and I love it. Got it for the Blu Ray and because I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid and God of War series.
