I've been looking at that game for the last hour. NW depends heavily on Persa to make plays. HE's not replaceable. That with the line being set at 8 tells me this could get out of hand. Illinois covers easy.

Yes, Illinois defense was torched against Mich, but NW's offense isn't close to the level of Michigan's offense. NW without Persa should struggle. I'm laying off because I hate betting the Big 10 but I think its a decent play.

what are you spewing now??? the D has been god awful the past few weeks, after giving up 100 points in 2 games, the #26 overall D in the nation i snow #56 and koening is disgusted, ESPECIALLY after that game vs the hapless golden gophers last week....with persa in, i'd most likely play the total, but without him, as the seer mentioned, they are a brand new team.....northwestern relies on persa to keep plays that should be over and done with extended out with his legs which allows for long drives to continue or touchdowns after breakdowns in the secondary.

given this week with the new QB who has pretty much no experience, i expect TONS OF BLITZ packages to be installed into the gameplan this week to keep this kid rattled and get him scrambling around so martez or mr ligeut can eat him up for dinner....if we don't blitz the hell out of him, i;d be really disappointed as we have seemed to drift away from an attacking D to sitting back and letting the Qb's have all the time in the world to read our D and find the open man.

on O, scheelhaase has shown that he can run a game to a T and get the job done while protecting the ball and leshoure is getting antsy after a few disappointing weeks on the ground....i think he will come out like a wild man and run on this NW D through more triple option, which again like with blitzes, we have not seen a lot of in the past few weeks...

and lastly.....after L's to michigan and minnesota...the bowl season rests on this game because Fresno state IN THE VALLEY will be tough and also this is a conference game and a W in conference is HUGE because we will then jump up several spots in the standings and given the tie breakers that we own over purdue/penn state and then northwestern and the losses that should be handed to teams in front of us, we can sky rocket up from #7/8 to #5 and grab a top notch bowl game for us.

with all of that said...and given the kiss of death is on NW.....

I love a good Brock fade, but I don't see it here. Illinois has been atrocious lately. Look at last week. Fitz is a much better coach than Zook, and for as good as Persa is/was, NW seems to have a system in place for their QB. I'm not saying Watkins will immediately be a star, but I do think the Cats can get it done even with him at the helm.
