Family is the most important thing. I think it's a stand up move to say I've done a lot for my team and I need this time with my loved ones, instead of bowing to the public pressure. Too many public figures neglect they're families. Good for Ozzie!

Well, official word is that he's on a vacation with his family that was planned before the White House date was announced. He did visit W. at the White House in 2004. Maybe once was enough.

What I have been hearing is that he had originally planned to go, but the date was changed twice, so I don't really blame him for this decision. He has surely had a busy offseason, and deserves a week with his family.

why should it matter that the dates changed at all guys. ozzie had all winter do visit his family.

Piersynski (don't have a clue how it should be spelled - their catcher) was on the Dan Patrick Show this morning, and said Ozzie would have gone if his family would have been invited, but they weren't.
