depends what your company policy is.... One he can honor your restriction or a lot of places just send you home saying they have no light duty then fire you for missing too much time.

There must be more to the story than you've told us so far...Is this workman's comp related?

When I write a doctor's note, whether it's WKC related or not, it's usually much more specific than "no strenuous activity"...

It will say no lifting more than ____ lbs., no continuous standing or sitting, no driving, no twisting or bending, no overhead lifting, etc.

Depends on your track record. I had a guy who ALWAYS had some shitty excuse for not pulling his weight. Everyone else busted their ass each shift but him. He always had some lame excuse about an ailment.

Now if the guy ever had worked hard and then had a bad case of a bad back you would understand but when he was always lazy as hell, it's hard to cut him some slack. It didn't help much when several folks saw him lifting several heavy batteries at Home Depot the same time he was out on medical leave.

My boss is pretty damn cool. I sent porn to him and his wife (my other boss) by accident. I worried about termination. He laughed at me and said to stop sending self portraits to everyone.

After reading the posts in this thread, its easy to see why the U.S. is headed straight into the toilet.

SteveC, if heavy lifting is part of your job duties, then you are no longer of any use to your employer and its easy to understand your boss NOT being happy about it. If you can no longer do the job, then he wants to hire someone who can and with the unemployment rate hovering around 10%, your boss knows there are plenty of people out there that would happily take the job (probably at lower pay as well).
