Record Snowfall on the East Coast.
Has this storm caused any of you problems this weekend. Seems its created some in the the Northeastern States.

It also postponed tonights Contender match till tomorrow.

BOSTON, Massachusetts (CNN) -- A raging snowstorm intensified Sunday as it moved up the East Coast, shutting down airports and dumping a foot-and-a-half of snow or more on some parts of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states.

Central Park in New York City recorded nearly 27 inches by about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, breaking a record of 26.4 inches set in December 1947, according to the National Weather Service.

"Make no mistake, this is a dangerous storm," said New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who urged residents and tourists to stay indoors and cautioned strongly against driving.

Blizzard warnings remained in effect Sunday until 7 p.m. for Boston and until 3 a.m. Monday ET for eastern Maine. Winds had been clocked at up to 40 mph in the area. (Watch the latest weather update from CNN's meteorologists -- 1:31)

Ronald Reagan Washington National and all three New York-area airports -- LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy and Newark-Liberty International -- were shut down Sunday morning, and airline cancellations meant other airports were seeing limited service. Reagan airport reopened shortly after 11 a.m.

JFK had reopened by 5:30 p.m. , and LaGuardia was scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Monday.

Newark-Liberty in New Jersey reopened Sunday afternoon with delays of more than 6 hours, the Federal Aviation Administration reported. In Pennsylvania, Philadelphia International Airport saw delays of about 2 hours.

Washington was under a snow emergency, with power out to 119,000 customers at one point Sunday. The emergency was later lifted. Also Sunday, about 62,000 power customers in Baltimore, Maryland, were without electricity. Thousands more were without power in New York and New Jersey.

The storm was so intense that some areas reported lightning.

The manager of a ski resort in Londonberry, Vermont, told the Reuters news agency that he welcomed the snow.

"I think this will get people back in the spirit of winter and skiing," Gary Aichholz said.

    Airlines cancel flights

Several smaller regional airports, including Nantucket Memorial in Massachusetts and Atlantic City International in New Jersey, were also shut down because of the snow. Atlantic City had reopened as of Sunday afternoon.

By 8 a.m., more than 2,000 flights into and out of the Northeast had been canceled, which in turn affected airports across the country.

Delta, the second-busiest airline in the United States, canceled all of its Sunday flights at Boston's Logan International Airport and T.F. Green International Airport outside Providence, Rhode Island.

The airline was offering only limited service at airports in Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Hartford, Connecticut, spokeswoman Gina Laughlin said.

The airline also suspended Delta Shuttle operations between New York, Boston and Washington, she said.

US Airways spokesman Carlo Bertolini said the airline had canceled at least 40 flights each out of Boston, Washington and Philadelphia.

Logan International Airport remained open, but 90 percent of the daily 1,250 scheduled inbound and outbound flights were canceled, spokesman Richard Walsh said.

Boston Public Schools were closed Monday, according to the system's Web site.

At Philadelphia International Airport, spokesman Mark Pesce said 30 percent of its arrivals and departures had been canceled, and several airlines -- Air Jamaica, AirTran, American, Continental, Northwest and Southwest -- planned to offer only limited service.

We had 48 straight days above normal here near Chicago, so no complaints here about the weather.
