A day after police testified he brought a now-former teammate the handgun used to kill a woman in January, Brandon Miller scored a career-high 41 points -- including a game-winning layup in overtime -- as the Crimson Tide outlasted South Carolina.

If I were a kid with God given talent like that, the next can't miss NBA gazillionaire, I'm not going 100 yards near a gun.

Poor judgment with tragic consequences, but he didn't commit a crime. What can they really do?

True, he killed nobody, but some judge you on the company you keep.
And that's the lesson he needs to learn.

according to the article he didn't get a text about bringing the gun till he was on the road already going to see his friend BUT did he really not know the gun was back there? and let's say you don't know about the gun. your friend texts you to bring it. do you not question why? why involve yourself?
just making discussion. this is what i think when i see the story.

Yeah, especially at 1:30 in the morning. If someone asks you to bring them a gun at 1:30 AM, it can't be for something positive.
It was also mentioned that Brandon Miller's vehicle was used to block in the girl who was killed.

Police testified that Miles texted Miller asking for a gun, to which Miller replied, “The heat is in the hat.” Later, police say Miller added that “there’s one in the head,” signaling that the gun was loaded. Miller was not charged in the killing.
Standridge also wrote that all of the events as he described them were captured on video, and that Miller has fully cooperated with authorities during the investigation. He said Miller does not own a firearm and “has never even handled a firearm. Moreover, he had no knowledge of any intent to use any weapon.”
Miller’s attorney says the freshman didn’t touch the gun allegedly used by teammate Darius Miles in the killing of a woman last month.
Those two paragraphs don't mesh well. His lawyer says he's never handled a firearm. BUT, he sends a text saying that there's a bullet in the chamber!? How did he know that?

Yeah, this whole thing stinks.
The coach said that he was "In the wrong place at the wrong time" I'm sorry, but that has to be the dumbest claim that anyone could make.
He took himself to that place with an item that was responsible for the death of a woman. He may have not pulled the trigger, but he definitely shares some responsibility in all of this.

What’s shocking? He should be locked up too. At the very least, no longer on the team but does anyone really think the University of Alabama cares about anything other than winning and enrollment? Please. Next.
