Doesn't matter, Joker is still the best player in the NBA. Probably gonna win his 3rd straight MVP. Something that only 3 other players in history have done.

you tell me how the regular season mvp is any better than the all star mvp

the guy who won all star mvp is jayson tatum, and the celtics are favorites to win the title

the guy who will win the regular season mvp is probably jokic, and denver is not likely to win the title

All Star game was pure trash this year. Layup drill and few random dunks here and there. I will never try to watch that shit again! Waste of time.

What does that have to do with who the best overall player is for his team? Lebron won his first title after leaving Cleveland and building a super team in Miami.

One laid back game with no defense being played as opposed to 82 games being played traveling all over the country? Yeah, no difference there.

You said it, LeBron won a title after building a superteam. It's not about the best player in the league anymore.

No defense being played, but there was offense. These guys did some amazing things. We did see Tatum vs Brown, something we'll never see in the regular season.

Do they play harder in the regular season sure of course, but the effort in the regular season is overrated, and the all star game is underrated-for certain players. not guys like the joker or doncic, who never took it seriously. but then...are you going to tell me kawhi leonard or paul george take the regular season seriously.

In the end, the only thing that matters is the NBA playoffs. That's when the teams put forth maximum effort. Not in the all star game OR the regular season. Just my opinion, I'm sure it's not the majority one. Guys are taking time off for "load management", or extending "injury time", that they would never take off if it was the playoffs.

have you seen jayson tatum play that hard in a regular season game, lately.

it's not a popular opinion, people will say it's outrageous, but it's closer to the truth than the conventional take "these guys are busting /ss in the regular season and the all star game is a joke"

I think we would all agree that players do play their hardest in the playoffs. Thats not a hot take.

But that doesnt mean they're laying doen during the regular season. There arr all sorts of incentives for players and teams to play hard, play well and win during the regular season. First is obviously home court adv in the playoffs where home teams win around 70% of the time. Thats huge. Thats why GSW win 82 reg season games.

Also, there are performance incentives for players based on certain measurable criteria during the regular season.

Playoffs are like a sprint. We see the maximal effort every play. Regular season is a marathon and the effort is measured and paced, but the desire to win and perform well is still there for most players.

Star players in the regular season? Well...kinda..depends

                      Bench players? Most play hard

It is what it is. Depends on the player unless it's the playoffs, then you know everyone goes max.

Why does this matter. That's why i don't wager nba regular season. You generally don't know how hard a team will play on any given regular season game. Certain game maybe. Same with the all star game.
