Gotti and his wife Victoria are dining at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy, NYC where Gotti rules, Bob Costas and his wife also has reservations, and are two tables separated.

John Gotti says to Victoria "OMG, that's Bob Costas, the famous sportscaster, I love that guy"
Minutes later Costas says to wife, "That's John Gotti over there, the Teflon Don"

Moments later Gotti gets up, walks over to Bob Costas's table, and introduces himself, shakes Costa's hand and says I'm a big fan of yours"

Costas says Gotti was a nice guy in person, despite all Mafia crimes he orchestrated, he was genuinely nice and personable.

Gotti was a huge sports fan, and by all accounts would lose tens of thousands at Belmont and Aqueduct, and he wasn't a good sports bettor either, which I find odd, because Gotti could probably fix games.
