Juice = the cut or percentage a sportsbook charges for taking a bet on a game.
When a sportsbook sets a line they set a true line to what their numbers that are crunched in or however they do it tell them to set the line at and than they add vig(juice) on top of it
When you lose a bet, the sportsbook takes your bet and collects.
When you win a bet, you do win but the sportsbook takes a percentage from the bet you just won due to the juice they charged you to accept your action instead of just paying out your bet at +100
Even when you bet and win on a + money play you are being charged juice because the lines are all built in place to add juice to the line from its true line(so for instance the true line would be +115 but the book will add juice to the line to offer it to bettors at +105) When they do this, they are lowering people's winnings and lowering the books losses by offering a lesser valued line and than they can also collect more and pay less winnings out when bettors bet a negative- line instead with more added juice added to it.
