Football and Hockey do you remember the old days when intimidation and goonery were an actual game plan?
Teams would have thugs on the roster and win by manhandling the opponent.

If we could see these games in High Definition 16x9 today we would weep for what we lost in pro sports.

MLB: Dodgers win the division by 22 games with 111 wins and there are three other 100 win teams and only one out of six divisions have much of a race. It only looks like parity because of more playoff teams and shorter playoff series. In the 1980s no franchise won the World Series more than once, that was parity.

NBA: It was just a few years ago people were talking about "Super Teams" as the complete opposite of parity. The conditions that created that have not gone away.

College football: Beginning of the year we could have said playoffs would be the most recent dominant teams. A great chance of getting at least three out of four from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State. And that still looks to be the case. Bama is having a down year (one loss and two very close wins) and they are still in position to make the playoffs. That isn't parity.

NFL: In the nearly 70 years since the merger, the only reason it looks like there was less parity was because of the years Walsh and Montana, and Belichick and Brady were together. Other than that, even 15-1 records did not mean dominance. Parity has not increased by very much.

part of me misses the dominance of certain teams and them being the big draw you always wanted to see. that also was when games were on less so they meant more (NBA on Sunday on NBC, Sunday night ESPN Football, etc)

LMAO Gold please list your evidence for "Parity".

Are you the kind of guy that sees a 10 point favorite lose and call it parity?

When mostly underdogs win or cover in one week, do you think that's parity?

Gold, you claim there is parity in all sports without listing specific evidence.

You made the point, now back it the fukk up or GTFO of here.

                  Extaordinary claims require extraoridnary evidence.

So, without using win loss records by themselves (because that isn't stand alone evidence for any league), show us your evidence for parity.

Show us. Show us you even understand what you are parroting from some sports show.

If an NFL team covers 5 or more straight games, time to martingale against them.

Parity doesn't exist in real life, and it shouldn't in sports.

There is not parity in MLB either.
The league is to top heavy.

Thirty team league, fourteen teams finished more than twenty games behind the division champions.
Ten of those fourteen teams finished thirty or or more games back.

Half the league was out of contention before June 1.

                            Parity?
                            Show me parity?

You mean like an undefeated UNLV team, an 18-0 Patriots team, or a 73 win Warriors team? A 111 win Dodgers team seems to fit in perfectly with top team from all those previous decades.
