Whatever happened to pitcher Mike Fiers?

a) Fiers is 100 years old (36 actually)
b) His career year was at the beginning of the end of his career, where he pitched just about 200 innings.
He has too many innings on an arm that has pitching MLB ball for more than a decade.
c) He's pitching in a losing culture, made up of pretty much AAA minor league talent, a franchise so lost I don't even think the front office know what city Oakland will be playing in three years now, except one of the cities won't be Oakland.

To sum it up, what we have here a once dependable, reliable, make every start for three seasons starter, that was fortunate enough to have his best season at the tail end of his career.

Who's the dummy here, the starting pitcher who accepted a contract too big for a 35 year old who's arm is obviously played out, or the ownership group/GM that couldn't figure out his career is pretty much at the end but gave him the big money anyways?

In March, he signed a contract to play in the Mexican League; don't know how well he's doing.
