    Angel Hernandez at it again

Bottom of the 1st Reds/Brewers. Humungous strike zone today, might just as well swing at every pitch

Just see which way he blows a call and bet that team he gave an advatage to. If he's behind the plate and calling strikeouts for both teams...Take under.

They get paid the same for each game so he is trying to work less hours. No need to call balls and miss his dinner time.

Loves to play that race card any chance he gets.
Doesn't matter what color or race you are to me, if you suck, you suck.

He's the poster child for robo-umps.

He's tenured and he's not the only one!
An umpire with tenure can fail their driving test due to poor eyesight on Monday morning, and ump a game that night!
MLB hitters say when they hit the mid 30's they have trouble "picking up the ball". Not neccessarily due to bad eyesight but the way the brain see's it.
Hernandez is 60.......wonder how he's picking up the ball?

He is not seeing the ball. He is most likely guessing from the catcher's glove positioning and the sound the ball makes when it hits the glove. A machine will do a better job on strikes and balls. The home plate umpire can still be used to call the outs at home plate if there is a throw at the plate.

10 combined walks. each inning, different zone. game flew over the total and once again hernandez messes with a game. how he is not investigated by the fbi is beyond me

He has the umpires union in his back pocket, that's pretty much a given.
He gets away with shit that even the Cowboy has gotten in trouble with.

He didn't win his lawsuit, he lost; that's why he isn't a crew chief. He still has a job because it's almost impossible to fire anyone with that much tenure who has a strong union behind them.

    Rob Manfred has no backbone.
Any other commissioner would have had Hernandez bounced years ago.

The commissioner can't do anything due to the CBA with the umpires union.

Come on Nasher, those were right on the corner. Especially with two strikes you can't be looking at that good of a pitch.

An umpire with his own zone is terrible from little league to the majors.

A lot of us have umpired before for kids.

I used to ask both coaches before the game " are we using from the black to black wide and letters to knees for these kids today?

Answer was almost always yes from both or sometimes a ball off the wide side for the young pitchers.

Whatever they wanted, they got as long as they agreed. If not, it was Doubleday's version, not mine.

When my son was a senior, he's batting cleanup and a 1-2 pitch misses outside by about a foot for a called strike three.

His head coach is working 3rd base and hollered " why didn't you swing ?".

My son yelled back, "my bat wasn't long enough to reach it".

That made me as proud as anything he did that season.

I'm hoping that they eventually implement the minor league system of challenging pitch calls. I watch it on MILB.tv and it does move very smoothly. It's time.
