He tried to hide money after declaring bankruptcy. This is a very common white collar crime.Comment -

#10Having an ex wife and an estranged wife probably what broke him in the first place. Then he tried to hide money by transfering shit back to them. Stupid. And why hide a $900k bank loan? He didn't think that would be disclosed? And what bank would give someone $5m and another $1.6m loan when Becker only made $50m in his lifetime? That's mostly their problems for being stupid, not Beckers.
------------------------------
He was found to have transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars after his June 2017 bankruptcy from his business account to other accounts, including those of his ex-wife Barbara and estranged wife Sharlely Becker.
Becker, 54, was also convicted of failing to declare property in Germany and hiding a $895,000 bank loan and shares in a tech firm. He was acquitted on 20 other counts, including charges that he failed to hand over two Wimbledon trophies and an Olympic gold medal, among other awards.
Becker said during the trial that "expansive lifestyle commitments" ate away his more than $50 million in career earnings. His bankruptcy stemmed from a $5 million loan from a private bank in 2013 as well as about $1.6 million borrowed from a British businessman in 2014, according to the trial testimony.Comment -

#15Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker
Movie on Apple TV+ will be released on Friday.
From IMBD: The film will explore the life of Becker, who became a tennis sensation when he won the first of his six majors at the age of just 17 and went on to have a glittering career, including 49 major career titles and an Olympic Gold.
From Wikipedia: In April 2022, he was sentenced by UK courts to two and a half years in prison for hiding assets and loans that the court required him to disclose to creditors and the bankruptcy trustee. On 15 December, he was released from prison early, having served eight months, and was immediately deported to Germany by UK authorities.
