The PGA tour now heads from Bay Hill, to TPC Sawgrass (About a 2 hour drive) for The Players. This course has more dog legs than a kennel. It's very demanding off most off the tee boxes, and doesn't favor any one player with the driver. Long hitters will have to tone it down which will give the rest of the field a fighting chance. In short, anyone can win this if they're shooting well, and the player that wins is somebody who can hit shot shapes right or left with accuracy. Some are better that others. Also, I would avoid any player who played last week at Bay Hill, it will be extremely hard to win this event for anyone that signed up there because that golf course was so physically demanding last week, it would be difficult for any player to have any energy left to finish this on Sunday. All that being said, I went with three players that can work the ball with great accuracy left to right or right to left which is what it takes to win here. They are:
Patrick Cantlay +1800 I moved a little bit late on him as he started at +2000 and has since moved down a click or two. Still decent value, great at working the ball, took some time off and looks ready to have a good week. Putting will be key for him, and if he's putting well I believe he will be tough to beat for four rounds this week.
Daniel Berger +2500 I think the books flat missed the number here. He is a Florida native and he knows this course as good as anyone in the field, he's playing well, has four PGA Tour victories at his young age, has the calm nerves and was very close to winning a few weeks ago. If it weren't for one bad hole, he'd have five victories. I'll forgive him for the mishap and take the generous odds that he redeems himself and makes a big run here.
Jordan Spieth +3300 My long shot play, I keep waiting for this guy to wake up and he just hasn't yet. Another who aimed at this event and at 33-1, why not? He can also hit with shot shape when he's on and he can putt when he's right. So Jordan, wake up and fire!
Should be another great week of golf, have fun and as usual I will have golf matchups during the course of the week.
