    Strange Gemini email. Advice needed

After reviewing your account, we noticed that you have several instances of deposits and withdrawals with no trades occurring in-between. Could you please provide an explanation for this activity? Also, could you please provide a brief projection of your intended activity on Gemini for the near future?

Additionally, the review also detected multiple transfers to other Gemini users. While this is acceptable, can you please explain your relationship to the other users and the purpose of the transfers, as this could be an indicator of business activity?

Furthermore, Gemini has recently noted transfers related to online gambling coming into or out of your account. As gambling is generally illegal within the United States, Gemini prohibits our customers from using our services to store, send or receive wagers or the proceeds of unlawful online gambling.

Future gambling-related activity, or any attempt to obfuscate such activity, may result in the closure of your account.

We appreciate your continued interest in Gemini. If you have any questions regarding our policy, please contact us at support@gemini.com.

What the deuce is this? How would you reply? Do I just get a new wallet or platform and forget about it?

    Thanks

You shouldn't move btc from gemini directly to offshore. That's probably what triggered this review

I got this same email a while ago, minus the gambling part as I used a middle wallet. I don't use Gemini anymore. If you ignore the email they will freeze your account and that is it. If you tell them it is gambling, they will most likely close your account, unless you get lucky. If you make up a bullshit story, be prepared to send them 1000 million documents proving your story.

As Funny says, making up a story can be a bigger pain the bum than just telling the truth.

I would just reply and say I did not know anyone else I dealt with had a Gemini account, I am not doing any business, just transferring funds and I will not use Gemini to send funds to bookmakers again. If you want to keep the account.

What wallet do I need to download and set up to send/ deposit with online books? I sent funds to a few buddies I knew. Didn’t know they had Gemini or that it would matter.

Do you want another exchange account to buy/sell bitcoin and transfer to a bank account? Or just a personal wallet?

US might make life difficult for them if they don't make efforts to curb any kind of shady transaction, at least ones they've cracked down on.

It's the world we live in when mocing crypto.

For moving money to/from your bank you need an Exchanger like Gemini.

Coinbase.com is the most similar to Gemini. CashApp on your phone is another option.

But you should not use these places like a personal wallet as you do not own the private keys for those wallets. They are more like a store to buy/sell/bank when you need to, then take your bitcoin to your own bank account (wallet)

Electrum.org offers a downloadable desktop wallet or a phone app. Blockchain.com offers a website based interface or a phone app. Blockchain is simpler. Electrum is feature rich. Both are free and you hold the private keys for them yourself.

The first paragraph explains it all... you used Gemini as a PO incoming wallet for a sportsbook. Worst thing you could of done. Then you more than likely moved some funds to another sportsbook. That's what triggered this.

Bottom line is if it's a exchange based in the US, you will get banned at some point.

yep. And CS is awful with some of the exchanges. I can't withdraw out of Binance.us right now because of what they deem a security risk. I can still trade but have been waiting for months for them to unlock my account to withdrawals.

    Blockchain wallet, not exchange.

Exchange to wallet to book to wallet to exchange if you even need that last exchange step. Shit, many don't need the step before, going from book back to the wallet...lol.

I was wondering this too. When I was looking for solutions for high fees a few months ago before btc tanked, everyone popped out “hey why are you using a middle wallet anyway, that’s the dumbest thing you could do, just go straight to the book, I’ve never gotten in trouble!!”

Way back in the circle days everyone was alerted to the risks of going directly. Even though there seem to be a lull in busting accounts, the risk was always there.

It's like these baseball pitchers, all the sudden they have to learn how to pitch again because they can no longer use substances?

It was always against the rules.

Wallet is important, fees or not.

    And fees can suck sometimes.

You can solve all these problems by just getting your own hardware wallet. You don't have to worry about who you are sending to or getting banned.

I will be reloading 3 books straight from Gemini soon (probably within 14 days or so.) I will let you know what happens.

I never once had a book PO sent directly to Gemini though. Still no warning letters.

I don't use them frequently as most though. Probably on average... 1-2 book deposits every 3 months. I've had a considerable amount of funds sitting in the Gemini acct for about 4 months now.

    Oh there you are TMS!

Can you see why you saying that in threads where new people are asking for real advice is misleading and unhelpful to them?

Honestly, I think people who muddy the waters for new people, in almost every thread they ask about middle man wallets, are acting like complete assholes. And they feel the need to do it in every thread about it too. Tiring.

So PLEASE, do not come back and report on your three transfers. It proves nothing. Just do what the hell you want and stop disseminating bad info to others.

A little over two years ago after one of my best sports betting runs I got a similar question from Gemini because I collected like 60k in 60 days with absolutely no trading. Optional actually gave me some great advice at the time & they accepted it. I am now more careful with transferring to middle wallets & or trading before I sent to book.

It's almost a guarantee you'll get flagged if you transfer crypto in/out an exchange but don't do any trading. Just do a couple of trades a month.
