This stat is irrelevant because you don't know who's going to win the game. What are the ATS records? What are the ML numbers?

It isn't a wild stat by any means. In the long term, the point spread comes into play roughly one ouf of six times which means that the team that wins also covers about 83% of the time. Over 50 games, taking into account one push, that would be a long term average of 41-8-1. 44-5-1 is only slightly higher than normal.
