Question for Vegas regulars

When they check ID’s do they scan them? Meaning will a good looking fake ID work to gamble?

Not talking about cashing out jackpots or drinking at the bars. Just wondering about table gambling and sports books mostly.

Here in NY they scan ID’s upon entry but at the Indian casinos (18 y/o) they don’t bother at all.

I have a nephew who wants to make a trip to Vegas with me but he’s only 20 but has a pretty good fake ID that will work as long as they don’t scan the back.

I live here so I know a little about it. It’s hit or miss. I’ve been asked and I’m 40. You just never know. Higher end places have more intense security right now because all the trash everywhere. I’m not sure what they scan for... real, fake, information, just collect a picture, some barely even look, etc...

Probably could get away with it but your blind side is there aren’t a lot of players right now so it could go 1 of 2 ways...

1. Won’t blend in as well with the pack. Meaning, when there are lots of people it’s more of a free for all.
2. It’s not that busy so they may not care or ask because they want the customer.

I’m reading mixed info about it online. Most people talk about drinking at the clubs which I’m sure is more strictly enforced.

My concern is if they do happen to catch him, would they just toss him out or would they actually try and prosecute.

That would be my only concern. I wouldn’t mind if they tossed him but don’t want him to get in any trouble.

Just have no clue what they will do. They are dealing right now with Covid, few customers, gaming board, health department, etc... so there are more eyes less customers than ever. He’d be wearing a mask too. I don’t know if it’s worth a shot.

Lol they wont do anything if they catch him. They will just toss him and confiscate the ID. With masks mandatory i doubt they even notice he looks under age lol.

Try to get passed the gang bangers at the front door of the casino.

Go in gamble. Lose your money and come home.

No id required to get robbed or lose your money at any casino

As a teenager I went to an Award's banquet at the Sands hotel. Met and talked to Dave Cowens that night. Afterwards dressed in a tuxedo I spent about five hours at the dice table betting a five bucks a pop on the don't. At sixteen I was tall and had a mustache. Didn't say much, just tried to blend in. The next morning dressed in jeans and a shirt I was approached by security as soon as I walked into the gaming area and ID'ed. It was a Sunday and every slow. I was informed I was underage and subject to a trespassing citation. Frightened the crap out of me at the time. Never got the opportunity to lose back my winnings from the previous night.
I was wagering at the windows at the local race track at that age also. At my height the tellers couldn't see my face from certain betting area's. No one seemed to care as long as it was done discretely.
I've had one fake I"D. in my life. At seventeen I got into strip clubs for awhile. NO booze was served in those places during that era. It was from a company in Vegas for twenty bucks via an ad in the L.A. Free Press. Good quality. However someone got popped holding one and L.E. ordered any one caught trying to use one who have to surrender it. My was confiscated at a burlesque theater in near downtown L.A. one Friday night.
I DO know this for a fact. A good public safety officer in a casino can smell a fake I'D' in a New York second.

I bet $10 per spin one time on a roulette reel and ran it up to almost $12k with pure luck. They came swarming. I was 21 luckily.

This is true... could be game over after that. Guy could go in a lot of directions...

1. Could end up firing off late night messages power posting here arguing with MODS.

I have 3 boys.

I always attempted to keep them away from gambling as I did not want them to have it in their lives like me.

The first 2 boys made it. They are older now and on their own. No gambling.

The 3rd one started gambling recently and he’s becoming addicted. Worried about him.

Yea, tried to research but saw all different opinions on it.

Im an East Coast expert. I know the casino floor of almost all casinos here in the Northeast.

At the Indian casino near me, most of the craps dealers, pit bosses know me. Mostly from my days when I lived near there. They all yell hello to me when I walk by. It’s kinda embarrassing when I’m with the wife or friends.

On the bright side of it, they all give me extra comps cause I prepare their tax returns for them every year.
